FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • COVID-19 Protocol?
    Thorntail does not require a mask for clients and guests . -Feel free to require a mask if that makes you more comfortable, everyone at Thorntail is happy to oblige! -If your feeling any type if sickness, please either reschedule or wear a mask. -If you fall ill to COVID–19 within 14 days of your tattoo, please inform us.
  • Do we offer piercings?
    We do NOT offer piercings. For some, Google and Facebook can be misleading since the platform has us listed as a tattoo and piercing studio. Unfortunately, that was the only option available when setting up our business page.
  • What is the studio’s minimum?
    Thorntail Tattoo’s minimum tattoo cost is $60 but each artist has liberty to choose their minimum tattoo cost.
  • Do we offer walk-ins?
    If the sign is out front of the studio, we are accepting walk-ins! Feel free to call the studio if you aren't local.
  • How do I book an appointment?
    The best way to book an appointment with us is to first, find which artist you would like to work with. From there you can contact the artist directly using their personalized form and discuss the booking process further. You will be able to access all four or our artist’s portfolios, and contact information right here on our website in the Artist link.
  • How does the consultation process work?
    Typically, we do half hour to hour long in person consultations. Inquire with your artist to see availability for these when you fill out a booking form. Consultations can be done virtually, in person, or via email per comfortability of the client.
  • How do deposits work?
    Deposits vary from artist to artist and also dependent on the tattoo. A deposit is required to schedule your appointment, and is NON REFUNDABLE. If for some reason you need to reschedule your appointment, that needs to be done at a minimum of 72 hours before the appointment. If you reschedule before 72 hours your deposit will still be honored. If you reschedule more than one time, you may need to give another depending on the policy of each artist.
  • How much will my tattoo cost?
    We charge hourly depending on which artist you are working with. Be sure to discuss artist rates and any budgets you may have during your booking/ consultation process.
  • What should I do to prepare for my appointment?
    It's always best to eat a hearty meal and have a good nights rest prior to your tattoo. Hydration plays a big role in the healing process and in the overall health of your skin before and after. Please do not come in with self-tanner on your skin, or anything other than lotion. Feel free to bring snacks, drinks, and any personal items along with you to make you feel comfortable. We provide snacks and drinks also!
  • Do you have aftercare info?
    Each client will go home with this full detailed sheet that extensively explains the healing process as well as proper aftercare and things to look out for during the healing process. Please contact your artist if you have any questions involving the healing.
  • Do we offer touch-ups?
    We offer a one time touch up on all of our tattoos if needed. Exceptions include hands, feet, and fingers where we do not offer free touch-ups.
  • Do the artists do commissions?
    Artists absolutely offer commissions of all types. Be sure to reach out to your prefered artist to discuss your ideas further, commissions are all dependent on artist availability.
  • What is the age of consent for a tattoo at Thorntail?
    Age of consent to receive a tattoo at Thorntail is 18 years old, with no exceptions.
